Loving Blogger In Draft

I’ve had my dashboard set to use Blogger In Draft now for about a year.  There are better tools, and more effective widgets.  Have loved using it for some time.  Now they have gone and made it even better.  The Template designer, is absolutely fabulous.

Anyone who has messed around with changing and customizing their template, knows just how monotonous and tedious it can be.  NO MORE!  Using the Template Designer, you can select from many base style templates.  Then select what type of sidebar configuration you desire.  Now comes the fun part.  You get to select background colors, images, text, font, you name it.

Before you had to transfer all your widgets to a test blog, or a note file.  Not any longer.  Because you can set up your blog in the template designer in virtual mode, you can view the how the whole thing will look.  rearrange widgets, change basic settings, even add CSS styling.  without ever changing your actual blog until your ready.

Once you have everything set just right, simply click the “apply to blog” button, and like magic, there it is.  All done.  I changed Ruminations in about two hours last night.  The hardest part was deciding on a background picture.

Another trip to the lake.

Sunset on the lake

Tomorrow, I go out to Possum Kingdom to work again.  I’ll be out of town for two days, returning in time for the weekend.   We’ll be finishing the house we started some time ago.  It has been a long drawn out process, but fun at the same time.  I’ll get a chance to see just how well the rain water collection system I built is working.  I am very interested in that particular facet of this build.  I can see some real potential for it.  For one thing, we could build something similar at the deer lease, and not have to haul water each time we go.

One advantage as always is that I’ll be staying the night at the deer lease.  Of course there will be the evening of fishing, and a quality camp fire to enjoy.  Perhaps I’ll make my stuffed jalapeƱos again.

I’m also going to try to remember to take my video camera.  Then I can give you a guided tour of the house we worked on.   Maybe even the deer lease.

We’re Back In High Gear

Misty Sunrise #2

It’s like a bright new morning sunrise!  Amazing how getting things figured out can make you feel so good.  Even stuff as trivial as an internet connection.

Finally!  My internet connection is back up and running at high speed.  It had gotten so bad that dialup would have been faster.  I spent hours, off and on for 3 days, on the phone with my ISP, trying just about everything in the book to get things working.  I was certain it was the router, through which we receive the signal for both computers and the TV.  I was sure of it, because even movies on the television were pausing mid stream.  As it turned out though, I was wrong.

It only took THREE days to get it figured out, but we discovered that my ISP has different “channels”  they can put us on.  Some are better than others, and come to find out we had somehow gotten placed on the worst one.  Now My connection is faster than it ever has been before.

I wish I had started the whole process last week when I first noticed my problems.  For one thing, before we were done, my connection was so bad, I couldn’t even complete a speed test.   Now I’m running at 5.38 MbPS download and .98 MbPS upload, which is above average for our area.  If you want to find out what speed your connection is running, go to speedtest.net.

Even a mistake may turn out to be the one thing necessary to a worthwhile achievement.

High Speed Ain’t SO High Anymore!

Nara Koen -moening#3

I’ve been having a serious problem with my internet of late.  My high speed connection lost it’s high gear!  I’m not really sure what the problem is, but I have my suspicions that it’s the router.  I’ve cleaned my computer, cleared the history, cookies, and catch on my browser, and no luck.  I even tried changing the USB port that I have the antennae plugged into, still no luck.

The problem is everything is loading so slow, and I can’t even stream videos or music like I used to.  The biggest problem is that files I try to down load or upload are getting corrupted because of the pauses in the system.  We’re trying to contact the ISP, and get them involved.  I think it’s on their end, because both of our computers are doing the same thing, and only on the internet.  I even tried using different browsers, and no change at all.

Hopefully we get it figured out pretty soon, because it’s driving me mad!  It has even curtailed my blogging because I can’t get my posts to publish due to the intermittent connection.
