Loving Blogger In Draft

I’ve had my dashboard set to use Blogger In Draft now for about a year.  There are better tools, and more effective widgets.  Have loved using it for some time.  Now they have gone and made it even better.  The Template designer, is absolutely fabulous.

Anyone who has messed around with changing and customizing their template, knows just how monotonous and tedious it can be.  NO MORE!  Using the Template Designer, you can select from many base style templates.  Then select what type of sidebar configuration you desire.  Now comes the fun part.  You get to select background colors, images, text, font, you name it.

Before you had to transfer all your widgets to a test blog, or a note file.  Not any longer.  Because you can set up your blog in the template designer in virtual mode, you can view the how the whole thing will look.  rearrange widgets, change basic settings, even add CSS styling.  without ever changing your actual blog until your ready.

Once you have everything set just right, simply click the “apply to blog” button, and like magic, there it is.  All done.  I changed Ruminations in about two hours last night.  The hardest part was deciding on a background picture.

I do not agree with that quote!

I have also had a hard time making my mind up on the background image. So I did one better. I change it everyday for something new. I too love the new blogger templates. I used to tweak my templates for hours, hell days!
Off to see Ruminations

The template designer is a blessing to all those that are afraid to edit the html or css. The original choice of templates and themes was pretty slim and a turn off to potential new bloggers. You can still use your own background by adding a simple css code and use the template designer to coordinate your theme to your background. I wrote a tutorial on how to do this on my blog.

@ Allison, LOL, I know what you mean. I used to set everything up on a test blog and tweak anything I could. I spent hours everyday for a few weeks getting Inferno set just right.

@ Erin, WOW, I'll head over and check it out. I enjoy tweaking my templates and adding things like tabs or what have you. I think it's the challenge that makes it interesting. I'm not great with CSS and XTL, but I'm getting better every time.
