A New Look and Name

sommerabend

Don’t worry, your where you thought you were.    It’s still the same old blog that used to be known as RSTMB Side-Blog.   I just got tired of the old look, and didn’t really like the name anymore.   Of course in the digital world it’s very easy to give your site an extreme makeover, and this one cost nothing but a few hours of my time.

I started this site as a side blog for Ruminations of a Small Town Mountain Boy, but it has become more of a daily journal.  At least for the past few weeks, and a couple months prior to that dark and hideous time I had to fight for computer time.   I seem to keep everyone up to date on what’s happening with all my blogs here, and my life in general. So I decided to call it simply Side Notes.   Because everyday, something of note happens, and this is where I’ll record it.

Please note that there is a widget for each of my other blogs on the side bar.  You’ll find a summary, and a thumbnail of the picture I used with each post.  If you find something interesting, just click on the title and you’ll be taken to that article.   There will be more widgets to follow, and I’m hoping to combine the three main blogs in one tabbed widget.  It’s just a matter of paying for the yearly membership at Widget Box, and then there will be no adds in the widgets either.  It’s not expensive, just $30.00 for the year, I simply need to be sure I can spare that thirty.

Also, the commenting system is the new ECHO format, which I really like.  It’s the brand new development from the JS-Kit I had before.  Threaded comments are still possible, simple click the “Reply” link.  Also you can add photos and videos to your comments if you want.   So, look around, see what you think, and let me know.

Travelers Bridge

Moreland Township, Pennsylvania

Sustaining walk along a lonely riverside.
Waters rolling, frolicking beside stony bank.
Sweet fragrance of nature envelops my senses.
Tufts of grass, undulating contentedly in the breeze

Travelers bridge, covered, welcoming, safe.
Ancient Dryads, spirits of the Oak reaching out.
Guiding my path, beckoning me to follow.
A simple earthen trail, persuades my passage.

Eidolon, friendly and wise, chaperon to wanders.
Shepherding a haggard and weary character.
Reassuring this rambler, safeguarding eccentricity.
Symphony of nature and fair umbra, renewing

Just a little more!

West Texas Sunset

While your reading this, I will be on my my way to my own personal sanctuary.  At least I have it scheduled to post at that time, I’m not sure when you’ll be reading it!  Working my way to relaxation, alongside a west Texas stock tank, filled with bass, croppy, and catfish.  Ready and willing to relish in the wonder of another amazing sunset.

The sunsets are always the best when there’s a full moon.  It’s like the changing of the guard at some royal palace.  Colors slowly lowered, carefully folded, then stowed away for the day.  Silver light of the stalwart moon stands bastion, protecting those under him.  Stouthearted and true, waiting for daylights return to salute revelry and the raising of the colors once again.

So the day didn’t go as planned, no surprise there

The flipside

Well, this is another pre-written scheduled post entry.   Monday didn’t quite go as I had planned.  It started off with me sleeping through my alarm, and being considerably late for work.  No excuses, really I have no idea what happened.  Anyway, I didn’t get as early of a start as I should have.

I managed to get all the material together for the job I have to do this week.  I ended up delivering it to the job site, and carrying it all down the hill to the house for ease of access. The builder was supposed to meet me out there, but couldn’t make it, so I came on home.   So we move what I was supposed to do today (Monday) to tomorrow (Tuesday), and see what happens with that.  At least the boss man was able to get me some help for the week!

This will push Ruminations next post up to Wednesday night.  Well at least It’s not as bad as it could be.

A New Look Is On The Horizon

Juste Une Lueur

I’m getting tired of this boring template, so I have been searching a for a new one.  I found just what I wanted over the weekend, and have already started getting things set up in a test blog.   Once that’s done, then all I have to do is down load it, and up load it to this site.  Pretty simple huh, well kind of anyway.

The new template will have three sidebars like many of my others.  One larger one on the right top, and two smaller ones below that.  Plus it’ll have three additional 3 sets of widget boxes in the footer.  This is a format I really like for the widget control.  It’s easy on the eyes, at least my eyes, and simple to organize.

When I do make the change, I’ll be changing the name also.  This blog will become “Side Notes”  Simple and easy to remember.   So don’t be shocked when you show up here one day, and nothing is familiar.  It’s sill me, and still the same blog, just a different look.

A Week of Work Ahead

Male and female Mule deerImage via Wikipedia

Well for the next week, I will be hard at work at my real job.  There’s going to be a lot of windshield time, and then a few overnight stays at the deer lease.   Basically, I’ll be driving out to Possum Kingdom on Monday, working till the end of the day, then out to the deer lease for the night.  Then Tuesday back to Possum Kingdom, working until about 5;00 or 6;00, then driving home.   Then I get to repeat the process all over again Wednesday and Thursday.  I’m not sure what I’ll be doing Friday, maybe relaxing.

I’ll be sure to take my fishing pole, and I might even take the video camera.  I could take some videos of camp, and show Y’All how meager our accommodations are.  Yep I used that darn southern term, Y’All, I can’t seem to get away from it down here so I might as well join the crowd.

I’ll pre-set a scheduled post for Monday so I can keep my daily posting going.  But Ruminations won’t get a post until Tuesday night when I get home.  You can expect some changes here soon, check back on Monday and you’ll see what I mean.
