Household IM

This is really kind of funny, now that we each have our own computer, there have been a few IM chats.  IM chats are not that uncommon, but when your in the same house, only separated by one little wall, I would think it is.  I wonder what’s next? 

Now that we can be on line at the same time, we find ourselves playing around on Facebook, and teasing each other.  I have to admit she has more friends than I do, and she’s only been on Facebook for a few months.   Of course she does play a lot of the games, and I’m, just not rally in to that.   She’s not into blogging like I am.   I guess that just goes to show that we’re different, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

This should be fun, as we find ourselves entering the computer family realm.  I wonder if she’ll IM me to let me know to take the trash out, or that dinner is ready.  I wonder how we’ll do the “goodnight kiss” through an IM?

Setting up a new computer

One of the things I dislike the most about getting a new computer is, NOTHING!!!!   Really though, getting everything set up, and downloading all the tools and programs I use sure takes a lot of time.  At least this time it’s not so much a trial and error, I know what programs I like now. 

I’ve downloaded Live Writer, and a number of the plug-ins I use regularly.  I’m in the process of getting all the blogs set up in it, takes a little  time now, but it’ll save me work later.   I set up FireFox, and all my favorite plug-ins for it, including TwitterFox and CoolIris.  I still have to transfer all my files over, but hopefully that won’t take too long.

Now I’m going to have to make my rounds, and get caught up on everything that’s been going on on the blogosphere.  I know that’s going to take some effort, and a little back reading to get caught up.  Then I have to get back on a schedule of posting, especially here and on Ruminations Of a Small Town Mountain Boy.

A little something different, for me that is.

For the first time in two years, I took a break and went golfing today.  It was an enjoyable time, and something completely different than what we’ve been doing.  Since I moved down here, I would go just about twice  a month.  But for the past two years, I kept telling  myself, I couldn’t afford it.  Today, I decided that sometimes you just have to say,  “What the heck”.  

It made for a relaxing day, even though I shot a 115, which is about my average.  I never said I was any good, I just enjoy the sport for the fun of it.  It was a little warm, but that made for an easy round, with no one pressuring us.  Most people don’t go out golfing in this kind of heat.

Every time I think about the fact that I play golf now, I have to laugh.  Ten years ago, I would never have dreamed I could be found on the course chasing that dammed little ball around.

Trying hard to write a blog post in as often as possible

I’m still having to wait my chance to get time with the computer.  I try hard to make the most of what time I do have, and post as often as I can.  This really is killing me, it’s like being subjected to oxygen depravation experiments.
