Thought spurred by one of those interesting emails you get and are supposed to pass on!

I know you have gotten one of those emails.  The ones that require you to pass it on to all your friends, or the worst possible luck in the word will befall you.  I have to admit, I usually delete those pesky buggers every time.  They are cute the first few times, but after that they get a little old.

Well, I read one last night, that ended up giving me an idea for a story.  It’s about an old American Indian legend involving two wolves.  I am going to change it up a little, but keep the premise the same.  I have been forming this idea now for about 30 hours, and it just keeps getting clearer, so I guess that means its a good one.

I am curious though, how does one give credit to the originator when there is no possible way to find out who that was?  I would love to be able to show my appreciation for the idea, and attribute the work properly.  If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Saturday at Work?

I have a working Saturday going.  I was supposed to be getting a call about 9:00 to go fix a water leak in someone’s yard.  Well the call has not come yet, so does that mean I’m going to have my Saturday to myself.  For some reason, I don’t think so.

I still have to go run my normal errands, bank, bill’s and the like.  Then I’ll be back, to settle into some writing.  I have a few stories running around in my head.  I think if can can rope them, and tame them down a little, they will be good for The Collaborative Writers Corner.  Sometimes, it’s just a matter of grabbing hold and not letting go.  Eventually they will settle down and give you a comfortable ride. 

I think I’m going to do another section to Tirashar’s story.  There is much that was left  unfinished.  I spent a little time at Deviant Art this Morning.  WOW, talk about some great pictures.  This is a site for story inspiration.  Thanks Shadow for the suggestion, your a saint.

An Idea for a Title

I have come up with a possible title for Tirashar’s story. It kind of hit me smack in the face, coming right from in front of my eyes. Tirashar’s personality, and many of her physical traits lent credence to the title. Not to mention her interesting journey she is setting out upon.

Ur,Naro h- Helce (Fire and Ice) A Journey of Discovery.

The first part of the title is Sindarin Elfin. Tirashar seems to be regularly torn between being calm as ice, and mad as fire. Her eyes have a tendency betray her and display both likenesses at different times. Her journey is one of discovery, both of herself, and her father. The basis for her journey is the search for her father, a Druid Walker, whom she has never met. Her mother has sent her on this journey, for she (Tirashar’s Mother) has noticed that her young daughter is coming into her magic. She fears Tirashar will need training in order to control this magic she senses is going to be very strong.

Tirashar is going to discover just a little of this magic very soon, and it’s going to leave her unsettled. You’ll have to read tonight's story to see what I mean.

Found One

I finally got the new template loaded on The Collaborative Writers Corner.   The new template is a magazine style lay out with tons of possible links.  I will be able to use one for each genre, and sort them easily.  It also has a scroller across the top, that I set up with screen shots of the writers blogs, who have joined.  There is also four featured content panels, I just have to get them figured out so I can load specific stories.

I spent about 6 hours the other night, tweaking this template and getting it ready.  Then last night I spent about 8 hours working on it.  There is still a lot that needs to be set up, but the basic template is up, and CommentLuv is loaded.  Now I just have to get serious about some content so we add labels to genres. 

I do have a couple of stories running around in circles within my head.  Once I get them settled down, and can throw a saddle on for a quick ride, I’ll get them written out.  Have to make sure their properly broke ya know.

Using my frustration for fodder

I just figured out a good story to write.   Based on the frustrating experiences I’m having with the bosses kid at work.  He has such a piss poor attitude sometimes,  and is pretty much the laziest person I have ever met.  Of course this means I have to work harder, and longer because he does not do his share. 

I’m going to have to work this through, but if it comes down to it, I will sit down with the boss, and tell him exactly what I think of his son.  May put me in a rough spot, but at the same time, I’m the only one that does any work around the place, and someone would have to take up that slack if he gives me the boot. 

Sounds like some good fiction working in the background.  I’ll see what comes of this, and write a few chapters.

My thoughts are in revolt

My thoughts are scattered to the winds tonight.  Can’t seem to find a single story or anything else worth writing about.  I guess I’m just worn out from a pretty hard day, with an uncooperative very young helper.  Kids these days just have no work ethics what so ever.

I think I have decided on a new template.

Collaborative Writers Corner will have a new look before long.  I chose a real cool magazine style layout.  It is real versatile, and most important, has some very useful navigation links. 

I have created a test blog, and uploaded the template for tweaking.  Many changes have already been made, but there are more, many more on the way.  I want to get as much finalized on the code tweaks as possible before I load the template on to the active site. 

The only bad part, is that many of these changes do take a little time.  I’m not going to make any changes that I need content to confirm they work.  I just don’t have anything written.  I suppose I could use an Loren Ipsum generator to load some dummy content.  That may be a good idea, just to see what will happen, and how things look.

Still having issues with the navigation

I have been looking at some different templates for the Collaborative Writers Corner.  Part of my problem is the potential for multiple stories in a variety of genres.  I want to be able to set up navigation that will be easy for the reader to understand.  Something that will allow me to separate stories by genre, and title.

There are some real interesting magazine style templates out that may solve many of my problems. The nice thing about them is I could set up each window to show the most current story is the different genre.  One of the templates I saw has a tabbed navigation widget in the side bar.  I like these widgets, because they don’t take up so much space.   I want a template that loads fast, and would love one that does not reload the sidebar every time a reader goes to a new story.

Perhaps a New Badge of Recognition is Needed for Those of the Bard’s Nature!

After today’s Writers of the Web post, I started thinking.  It may be fun to develop a badge of recognition for those Bards I find in my travels.  One I could offer to the talented writers whom I discover in through my journeys.  I may be able to enlist the assistance of some of my new friends, the wonderful artists of Dante’s Pub.  Perhaps even create an Order of the Bard.  A secret order, full of traditions, rituals, and reading.  Sounds like fun does it not.

I would not want to make this as a blog award, and certainly not something one would have to pass on.  I’m thinking more along the lines of a badge to display on their blog if they so choose, advertising the fact their talents have been recognized.  Of course I would have to appoint myself as an apprentice of the order, and scribe.  After all there must be someone to record all the royal appointments that would follow.

How About a Few Twists

Ahhh!  Plans are in the works, there are to be a few twists coming soon to Tirashar’s story.  Some things you all will love, and I hope will add some spice to the game.  I just have to tempt my friends and faithful readers.  I’m hanging this carrot out for you all to reach for and try to grab.  Whether or not I’ll allow you to get it just yet… remains to be seen.  I may just tease a little bit, we just have to wait and see.  (key evil, sinister laugh from darkened shadows “bra haa haa haa”).

Sunday Sweetness

Sunday’s can be so pleasant.  The peaceful feeling of a clear Sunday morning, blooming into a wondrous day, are one of those ever so rewarding experiences.  Today is fast becoming one of those wonderful days filled with companionship, love and promise.

The day started of clear and bright, not too warm and not cold at all.  Just a nice inviting temperature, spurring a desire to get out and do something, anything but sit around the house.  The hard part, is Blinda is not an outdoorsy type of person, so we’re compromising.  We are going to go out for a nice meal at a local restaurant, then take in a movie for something a little different.

It has been so long since we have spent a day out enjoying each others company.  This may end up becoming a routine, I kind of hope so.   Now if I can just get her to come with me some day to experience the nature I love so much, Life would be grand.
